The most useful money changer is the one on the way to somewhere else. Bangkok has a set of counters built into MRT station concourses, on the BTS skywalks and at the two airport rail stations, and if you know which station has one you can change money in the four minutes between exiting the gate and reaching the street.

Below is every station counter the site tracks, with brand, position, hours and the US dollar buying rate as published on 16 October 2026. The site’s boards refresh every few minutes; the Bangkok page has the live figures.
Inside the MRT concourses
The MRT lets retail units in its station concourses, and SuperRich 1965 has taken one in five stations. All five publish the same hours for weekdays and Sunday, which makes them the easiest counters in the city to plan around.
- MRT Sukhumvit (interchange with BTS Asok): 10:00–20:00. US dollars 33.25, yen 0.2115, yuan 4.99.
- MRT Rama 9: 10:00–20:00. The same rates as Sukhumvit.
- MRT Chatuchak: 10:00–19:00. The same rates again.
- MRT Kamphaeng Phet: 10:00–19:00, every day of the week. An earlier version of this page had the unit open only Friday to Sunday; the chain now publishes seven-day hours. This is the station for the weekend market.
- MRT Sanam Chai: 09:00–18:00. US dollars 33.17, yen 0.211, slightly under the other four. This is the station for Museum Siam, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, so it is the counter for a temple day.
One BTS station has a counter inside the station building itself: BTS Phloen Chit, where Twelve Victory trades 10:00–18:00 on weekdays and Sunday alike. It paid 33.33 for dollars, 0.212 for yen and 5.01 for yuan, the best dollar and yen rates of any counter on this page, shared with Vasu for dollars and with K79 for yen.
On the skywalks
The elevated walkways from the Siam-line stations feed straight into malls, and the counters sit at the join.
- Chit Lom: Superrich Thailand on the 2nd floor of Gaysorn Centre, at skywalk level; no published hours; dollars 33.28. From the same skywalk, SuperRich 1965 at Big C Ratchadamri is on the 2nd floor, Sunday 10:30–20:30, dollars 33.25.
- National Stadium: the skywalk enters MBK Center on the 3rd floor, where Superrich Thailand has a counter with no published hours; its 33.30 was the best of that chain’s Bangkok counters on the day. SuperRich 1965 has a counter at the 2nd floor skywalk level of MBK, Sunday 10:30–20:30, at 33.17.
A short walk from the exit
- BTS Nana: Vasu Exchange on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1. Weekdays 09:00–18:00, closed Sunday. Dollars 33.33, yen 0.2115, yuan 5.01. On 16 October Vasu was also the cheapest seller of Malaysian ringgit in the country, at 8.20. See Vasu’s brand page.
- BTS Asok / MRT Sukhumvit: besides the concourse unit above, Superrich Thailand has a counter on the G floor of Terminal 21, no published hours, dollars 33.28.
- BTS On Nut: K79 Money Exchange on Sukhumvit 79, 08:00–17:00 on weekdays and Sunday, the earliest opener on this list. Dollars 33.20, yen 0.212, yuan 5.02.
- Wat Mangkon, Chinatown: SuperRich 1965 in the Station One Yaowarat building, 09:00–18:00 every day. Dollars 33.17, yen 0.211.
At the airport rail stations
Suvarnabhumi, B floor, at the Airport Rail Link station: Superrich Thailand has a counter with no published hours, paying 33.23 for dollars and 0.211 for yen. Happy Rich Exchange has one beside it, open 05:00–24:00 every day, paying 33.28, 0.2115 and 5.02 for yuan. On 16 October the counter with the long hours also had the better rate: Happy Rich paid 0.05 more for a dollar than its neighbour, matched Superrich Thailand’s own mall counters in town, and its yuan rate was 0.01 under the best in the country. The airport-wide picture is on Suvarnabhumi.
Don Mueang: Happy Rich has a counter on the walkway between the terminal and the Don Mueang Red Line station, 05:00–22:00 every day, and a second, Happy Rich Point, on the walkway down to the railway station, 06:00–18:00 on weekdays and closed on Sunday. Both paid 33.13 for dollars, 0.2105 for yen and 4.94 for yuan, the lowest on this page. See Don Mueang.

Three routes that need no detour
Arriving at Suvarnabhumi, heading to Sukhumvit. Change a day’s money at the Happy Rich counter on the B floor; at 33.28 it was within 0.07 of the best counter on this page, so a small amount costs almost nothing. Take the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai and the BTS to Asok, then change the bulk at the MRT Sukhumvit unit, open until 20:00, or at Terminal 21 on the G floor.
A temple morning. Ride the MRT to Sanam Chai, change at the concourse counter before 18:00, and walk out towards Wat Pho. Its 33.17 is 0.08 under the Sukhumvit unit, which on US$100 is 8 baht, and entry fees at the major sites are paid in cash; see temple entry fees.
Chatuchak weekend market. Get off at MRT Kamphaeng Phet, change at the station unit, 10:00–19:00 any day, and walk into the market. The MRT Chatuchak unit keeps the same hours and the same rates as a backup.
What station counters pay
A station counter is convenient rather than cheap, but the gap is small. From the lowest counter on this page, 33.13 at Don Mueang, to the highest, 33.33 at Phloen Chit and Vasu, is 0.20 baht, or 200 baht on US$1,000. Across the whole of Bangkok the best-to-worst gap on 16 October was 0.30 baht. Against a mid-market rate of about 33.53, Phloen Chit was 0.6% under and Don Mueang 1.2% under.
Within the MRT units the only difference is Sanam Chai and Station One Yaowarat at 33.17 against 33.25 elsewhere. Each unit has its own shop page, for example MRT Sukhumvit, with the day’s board.
When you do not need any of this
- You have enough baht to reach a better counter. Phloen Chit and Vasu were 0.20 baht ahead of Don Mueang on the day; if a better counter is within your day, check it on the Bangkok page first.
- You are only topping up a few hundred baht. The walk from Nana to Soi 7/1 for 300 baht of change is not a saving; nor is a 220-baht ATM fee. Change a sensible amount once.
- You are paying by card anyway. Malls and restaurants at every station on this list take cards. The station counter is for taxi and street-food money.
- It is Sunday and you are at Nana. Vasu is closed. Phloen Chit is one stop west and open until 18:00, Terminal 21 is one stop east, and the MRT Sukhumvit unit there runs until 20:00.
Check hours before you set off. They differ by day of the week, and public holidays can change them again; each shop page on the directory shows the current schedule.
