About ThaiRate

ThaiRate is an independent comparison site for cash exchange rates across Thailand — Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin and more. It exists because the answer to "where should I change money today?" changes every day, and the only way to know is to check every shop's board.

Where the rates come from

Every rate on this site is read automatically from the money changer's own public website or rate feed — the same numbers they display in the shop. We currently cover 180 branches of twelve companies in 21 cities. The largest sources:

• T.T. Currency Exchange — the biggest chain in the Pattaya area, from Naklua to Jomtien. Rates are fetched per branch from ttexchange.com, because branch groups have slightly different margins.
• Superrich Thailand (green) and SuperRich 1965 (orange) — the two large Bangkok chains, each tracked branch by branch from the company's own feed. Superrich Thailand also runs the airport counter on floor B at Suvarnabhumi.
• Twelve Victory — the widest network we track, with branches in sixteen cities, from Bangkok and Hua Hin to the Isan border towns.
• Grand Superrich, Vasu, X-One, K79 (Bangkok), Damini (Pattaya), Mamy, Lion (Phuket), Super Money (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Nong Khai) — each read from the rate board on its own website.

The mid-market ("interbank") line comes from open.er-api.com and is shown for reference only. No shop is paid to appear here and no rate is edited by hand.

How often it updates

Every few minutes, around the clock. If a shop's website cannot be reached, its last known rates stay visible and are marked stale with the time they were last confirmed.

Only real shops

We list a branch only when it appears on the operator's own branch list and publishes rates. Temporarily closed branches are labelled as such and excluded from the ranking.

How the site is funded

ThaiRate is free to use. It may show advertising and some links to travel services are referral links; they never influence the ranking, which is purely by rate.

Who runs ThaiRate

ThaiRate is run by one independent developer, not by a bank, a money changer or a travel company. Nobody at any of the shops listed here has a say in what appears, and no shop can pay to be listed, ranked or removed. The code that reads the rates, the article texts and this page are written and maintained by the same person; questions go to contact@thairate.com.

How "best rate" is decided

The ranking on every page is the buying rate for the largest banknote the shop quotes (for example US$100 and US$50, or ¥10,000), because that is the rate most visitors actually receive. Where a shop quotes smaller notes separately, those tiers are shown on the shop's page and on the currency page, not hidden in the headline. The mid-market line is a reference, not something any counter pays. Opening hours, addresses and the Sunday closures come from each operator's own branch list and are re-read with the rates.

How the articles are written

Every number in a guide is taken from this site's own data on the date stated in the article, and the date is always stated. Articles do not quote a shop, an address or an opening time that is not in the data, and they do not quote prices for hotels, tickets or transfers that we cannot verify. When a guide compares two options, the figures it uses are the ones that were live that day, so a reader can check them against the page for that city.

Corrections

Rates on a board can differ from a shop's website, and a branch can close without updating its site. Every shop page has a form to report what you saw at the counter; reports are reviewed before they appear. For anything else, write to contact@thairate.com. Corrections are made on the page concerned, and the data is re-read on the next cycle.

What ThaiRate is not

ThaiRate does not exchange money, does not take bookings and gives no financial advice. It shows published rates so that you can decide where to go. Some links to travel services (hotels through Booking.com, eSIMs, airport transfers, insurance) are partner links that may pay a commission when you buy something; they are marked as such, they never affect the ranking, and the site may also show advertising.
