Privacy policy

ThaiRate ("we", "this site") compares cash exchange rates published by money changers in Thailand. This page explains what data is processed when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: the site has no user accounts, sets no cookies of its own, and stores personal data only when you send it to us through a form.

Page-view statistics

When a page loads, your browser sends us the page path, the language of the page and the host name of the site that linked to it. We count these in aggregate to see which pages are useful. No IP address is stored with the count, no cookie is set and no identifier is assigned to your browser, so the statistics cannot be traced to you.

Location

If you tap Near me, your browser asks for permission to share your location. The coordinates are used only inside your browser to sort shops by distance; they are never sent to our servers or to anyone else.

Local storage

Your chosen language, city, currency, saved shops and alert settings are kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them next time. This data never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Forms and messages

• Contact form: your message, your e-mail address and, if you give one, your name are stored on our server so that we can reply. They are used for nothing else and are deleted once the matter is closed, at the latest after twelve months.
• Reviews and rate reports: the rating, comment, nickname and the rate you report are published on the shop's page. To limit duplicate submissions we store a one-way hash of your connection details for a short time; the hash cannot be turned back into an address.
• E-mail alerts: if you subscribe to the daily rate mail, your address is stored to send it. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and the address is deleted when you use it.
• Push notifications: if you turn them on, your browser gives us a subscription endpoint, which contains no personal data. You can revoke it in your browser at any time.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent dialog before any personalised ads are served, and can change their choice at any time. Partner links

Some outbound links to hotels, eSIMs, transfers and travel services are referral links, marked as such for machines (rel="sponsored") and in the footer of every page. When you follow one, the destination site may set its own cookies according to its own privacy policy; we receive no personal data from it, only the fact that a purchase was made.

Maps and hosting

Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers, which receive your IP address when a tile is requested, as with any resource on any website. The site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent) for a short time as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Your rights

You can ask at any time what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its processing, by writing to contact@thairate.com. Residents of the EEA and the UK also have the right to complain to their data-protection authority. The controller for the data described here is the operator of ThaiRate, reachable at the same address.

This policy is updated when the site changes; the current version is always the one on this page.
