A mall counter solves two problems at once: it is air-conditioned and it keeps mall hours, which run later than the head offices. What it does not solve is finding the thing. A Bangkok mall can be seven floors and three wings, the directory board calls the counter “financial services” if it lists it at all, and it is rarely by the entrance you came in through.
This article lists every mall counter the site tracks in Bangkok, with the floor and the landmark as published by the chain itself. Rates and hours are as of 16 October 2026; the boards on this site refresh every few minutes, so use the Bangkok page for today’s numbers. The hours quoted are each counter’s published Sunday hours, and Superrich Thailand publishes none for its mall counters, so for that chain the mall’s own closing time is the limit.
The rule of thumb: find the banks
In the Central group malls the exchange counter sits in the banking zone, next to the bank branches, usually on an upper floor. Central Ladprao puts Superrich Thailand on the 2nd floor banking zone near Aeon. Central Westgate has it on the 3rd floor banking zone opposite Government Savings Bank. Central Pinklao has both Superrich Thailand and SuperRich 1965 on the 4th floor banking zone. Central Rama 3 has Superrich Thailand on the 4th floor opposite Bangkok Bank, and Central Eastville has SuperRich 1965 on the 3rd floor.
So when the directory board shows a cluster of bank logos, that is where to go. In the older malls, MBK and Platinum in particular, the counters sit at the skywalk or car park entrance instead, and there may be more than one chain in the building.
Siam and Ratchaprasong

Do mall counters pay less than street shops?
Less than the folklore suggests. On 16 October the six Twelve Victory mall counters bought US dollars at 33.33, Superrich Thailand at 33.28 to 33.30, Value Plus at 33.25 to 33.28, and SuperRich 1965 at 33.25 at most sites and 33.17 at MBK, Samitivej and Seacon Square Srinakarin. Best mall counter to worst was 0.16 baht, about 160 baht on US$1,000. Across the whole of Bangkok the gap between the best and the worst shop that day was 0.30 baht, so the malls sit in the better half. Against a mid-market rate of about 33.53, 33.33 was 0.6% under and 33.17 was 1.1% under.
The pattern held elsewhere: Twelve Victory paid 0.212 for yen and 37.40 for euros against 0.2115 and 37.30 at the Superrich chains, and for yuan Value Plus at CentralWorld and EmQuartier paid 5.03, the best in the country that day. So the walk between two counters in one mall can be worth as much as the walk to the street. Compare the counter on its shop page, for example SuperRich 1965 at CentralWorld, Superrich Thailand at Central Chidlom or Twelve Victory at MBK, before deciding.
The larger cost is the notes, not the mall: most boards pay less for small denominations, so which banknotes you bring matters more than which floor you find.
When you do not need a mall counter
- You already have baht for the next two or three days. Nothing here beats not needing to change money tonight.
- You are in the mall anyway and paying by card. Change only what the taxi and the street food need.
- The shortfall is a few hundred baht. A Thai ATM charges a flat 220 baht plus your bank’s fee; hunting a 4th-floor bank zone saves nothing on a tiny amount.
